BUSINESS PLANNING & STRATEGY

​Strategic planning is a management process for evaluating your business, determining your strategic direction, and laying out a clear route of strategic initiatives. A strategic plan explains why an organization exists, what it intends to accomplish, and the tactics it will take to achieve its goals and objectives. Epica adheres to the following steps:

  1. Assessment

  2. Formulation

  3. Planning

  4. Execution

 

Assessment:

​

We assess the organization’s mission, vision, and values, which lends to strategic context. The assessment includes (but not limited to) internal factors such as: financial, operational, products, customers, and supply chain; and external factors such as: market, industry, competition, opportunities, and threats.

 

Formulation:

​

Our management consultants collaborate with the team to formulate the strategic vision, value proposition, competitive differentiation, and strategic alternatives (e.g. develop a capability vs. make an acquisition). This phase includes development of the strategic narrative that is powerful and inspiring.

Planning:

​

Now is time to “add meat to the bone”; with strategic growth initiatives along with detailed plans for each functional area of the business. In this step, we also build the business case and budgetary requests, which includes a three to five year plan with key metrics.

​

Execution:

​

Carrying out the strategic plan includes assigning responsibility for each initiative, program/project management. While each area of the business and every individual involved to have clarity of role/responsibility and be inspired to accountability. People support what they build.

​

Many business strategy projects suffer as a result of an in-balance of planning and action. Our management consulting methodology remedies this through experience, and an ability to quickly identify need(s), respect circumstance(s) and implement change(s) faster and more effectively, without bias. One key to this is “everyone buys in”. We coach and support individuals from all positions in the business organization; so that everyone feels of value and can contribute.
